Mount Allison is excited to be preparing for its next major capital campaign and is building the team that will make it happen. In the most recent campaign, Mount Allison raised more than $96 million in eight years – two years ahead of target and $10 million over its goal.
Director of Development
Reporting to the Vice-President, University Advancement, the Director of Development plays a leadership and strategic role in meeting Mount Allison’s philanthropic aspirations in support of the strategic needs of the University. Joining Mount Allison at this time, the Director of Development will have the opportunity to engage in campaign planning and in forming the campaign team. As a member of the University’s leadership group, the Director of Development will interact with leaders at all levels of the University, including the President, deans, professors, all vice-presidents and student leaders, as well as Mount Allison’s lead benefactors and volunteers, on a wide variety of fund raising issues and opportunities. The Director will be directly responsible for leading and managing the Development and Advancement Services Offices and will be accountable for both team and individual fund raising results.
As the ideal candidate, you are a proven major gift fund raiser with a significant record of success in major and leadership gift fund raising and planned gift programs. A natural team builder, you bring experience leading and motivating Development and Advancement Services teams, and have the ability to consistently develop relationships of trust with Mount Allison’s donors, volunteers, alumni, University senior administrators, faculty, staff, and students. Known as a strategic thinker and aspirational goal setter, you utilize data-informed decision-making to set, execute, measure and succeed in delivering programs. You demonstrate a high level of maturity, tact, and diplomacy, and have excellent judgment and discretion. A superb communicator, you are able to listen and engage effectively, articulate complex issues clearly and simply, and make a compelling case for support with sophisticated philanthropists, volunteers, and the academic community. You have experience with development and advancement services policies, procedures, systems and best practices, and are able to work effectively with a small group, leading and working hands-on as part of the team.
Senior Campaign Associate
The Senior Campaign Associate is a critical member of the campaign team, accountable for the successful management of a leadership prospect and donor portfolio, and one of Mount Allison’s key relationship managers. The Senior Campaign Associate also provides input on issues and opportunities related to the campaign and interacts with Mount Allison’s lead benefactors and volunteers. Part of a small and dynamic team, the Senior Campaign Associate reports to the Director of Development but will spend significant time outside the University interacting with potential donors. Accordingly, Mount Allison is open to having you live anywhere in eastern Canada.
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced fund raiser with the ability to develop new relationships and advance existing relationships on behalf of the University. A self-starter, you are aspirational in setting goals and bring a successful track record of achieving goals through data-informed planning, tenacious execution in closing gifts, and impeccable follow through. Your superb communication skills enable you to listen and engage effectively, articulate complex issues clearly and simply, and make a compelling case for support with sophisticated philanthropists, volunteers, and members of the academic community. You have a high level of maturity, tact and diplomacy, excellent judgment and discretion, and are able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
